Summer (75°F+)
3–5 small meals per day. Growth and color maximized. Total daily ration 2–3% body weight.
Spring/Fall (60–75°F)
2 meals per day. Total 1.5–2% body weight. Watch for changing temperatures and adjust.
Cool (50–60°F)
1 meal per day, on warmest afternoon. Wheat germ–based. 0.5–1% body weight.
Cold (<50°F)
No feeding. Resume only after 7 consecutive days above 50°F.
